Observatoire de la Cote dAzur
This 77 cm (30 in) telescope, built between 1886 and 1887, became the largest of the privately funded observatories, and the first at that height, at 325 meters above sea level. It was used in the past to monitor the movement of stars and planets in direct contact with NASA, but now it is part of a scientific institution that uses it to study space.
