The Karl Theodore Bridge or the Old Bridge is an arched bridge in the city, and it was built to connect the two banks of the Neckar river, and the bridge connects the old town and the modern town. It was built in 1788 by Prince Charles Theodore as campaign propaganda prior to his nomination for election as Holy Roman Emperor. Although it is a bridge dating back more than 250 years, it is considered relatively recent compared to other landmarks in the city. Tens of thousands of visitors come to the bridge every year to take pictures and enjoy panoramic views of the city.
