In historical Jeddah, a tourist scene that no tourist or visitor can forget. At night, a light of colors dances with the noise of the voices of street vendors.. as if the historical gate opened to the public on a scene from an ancient and beautiful time. The wall was built by one of the Mamluk princes, Hussein al-Kurdi, when he went to the Red Sea to fortify it from the attacks of the Portuguese occupation. He built castles, forts, and towers and provided them with cannons. The wall surrounded a trench from the outside to increase the fortification of the city and help its people. And a door from the direction of Makkah Al-Mukarramah, and the wall contained six towers, each of which was surrounded by sixteen cubits, then six doors were opened in the wall: Bab Sharif, Bab Al-Maghariba, Bab Jadid, Bab Makkah, Bab Al-Bunt, Bab Al-Madina, and in the early part of the century Two new gates were added to the current one, and in the year 1947 AD the wall was removed because it entered the urban area. Historic Jeddah is divided within its walls into many neighborhoods that are called lanes, and among these lanes: Al Mazloum Alley: It is located geographically in the northeastern side of it, and it was named after Sayyid Abd al-Karim al-Barzanji who was killed by the Ottoman government, and it contains the mosque market, the Dar Al Qabil. Al-Yaman Alley: It is located geographically on the southern side of it, and it acquired its name because of its direction to the country of Yemen. It contains Dar Al Jamjoum, Dar Al Nassif, Dar Al Abd Al Samad, and Dar Al Shaarawy. Alley of a Million Children: It is located geographically in the south of it, and it was named after the large number of children in its alleys. Al-Sham Neighborhood: It is located geographically on the northern side of it, and contains Dar Al-Zahid and Dar Al-Sarti. Karantina Neighborhood: It is geographically located to the south of it. Al Bahr Al Bahr: It overlooks the sea and contains Dar Al Radwan and Dar Al Nimr.
