Description of the place
An ancient castle located in the heart of the city of Palakkad in the state of Kerala, and it is said that the castle has existed since ancient times, but it was built in its current form in the year 1766 AD by Sultan Hyder Ali. There are no manuscripts about the history of the castle before that time. It is among the most beautiful preserved forts in Kerala. The British seized it in the year 1790 and established military bases there.
