The Widows' House was built of wood and mud between 1719 and 1720, and is one of the oldest surviving houses on the island of Rügen. The last widow, Sophia Vahl, lived in the Widows' House from 1782 to 1810, then the house served as a school, until In 1984 it was an apartment building, and in 1984 Anna Glutsch moved in; The last resident of the house, of the widow's house after her ancestors had lived there for four generations. What is striking about this house is the high thatched roof, and when looking at it, the visitor notices that this house does not contain a chimney.
