Pompey's Pillar
The column is considered one of the most famous monuments of Alexandria, and it is the only archaeological landmark that was built outside the imperial capitals, Kroma and Constantinople. It is made of red granite and the column was built in honor of Emperor Diocletian in the third century AD. It is one of the largest and most ancient monolithic columns ever. You can see it from the outside or enter the corridors of the cool floor. It is a great landmark to spend an enjoyable time learning about the history of Alexandria and taking memorial photos with family and friends.
