Located on the northern edge of the Angkor Archaeological Park, the Preah Khan Temple is one of the most important buildings erected during the ancient Khmer Empire. It was dedicated to his father by the great King Jayavarman VII in 1191. It is surrounded by dense forest, dotted with stunning trees, and its borders are delimited by a moat. It has fortified walls decorated with stone carvings in the form of eagle-like divine beings, and includes a range of entrances, towers, ceremonial spaces, courtyards, shrines, and a variety of passages.
