The Fountain of the Dolls located in the city center of Aachen is considered one of the most prominent tourist attractions in the city. It was created by the artist Boniface Stirnberg in 1975 AD. It consists of a group of bronze dolls, each of which has its own meaning. The horse and rider symbolize horse shows or the Aachen International Equestrian Championship, the saleswoman symbolizes trade, the bishop symbolizes the church, the fashion doll symbolizes the textile industry, the professor and the clown symbolize faith and culture, and on top of the fountain there is a statue of a rooster that symbolizes the French occupation.
