Description of the place
The Qubbat al-Hawa (Dome of the Winds) necropolis is located in western Aswan, south of the Nubian village. What looks like huge sand dunes covering an enormous Nubian sandstone formation is home to one of ancient Egypt's most famous necropolises, dating from c. 2500 BC. The main part of the site holds burials from the Old Kingdom to the New Kingdom.
