Description of the place
The Republic Statue is one of the distinctive monuments of the city of Istanbul. The Republic Monument in Taksim Square was made of bronze and concrete with the financial support of the people and was placed in its current location in 1928 AD. There are also two standard bearers in the statue representing one of the symbols of Istanbul, Ataturk and his comrades-in-arms. It symbolizes the national struggle and the modern face of Turkey, with a height of 11 meters, standing tall in the middle of Taksim Square.
