Description of the place
Built by Olivier Voutier in 1848 on the foundations of the former Clares Abbey, Castle St Clair was the winter residence of the famous American novelist Edith Wharton from 1920 to 1937, and today it houses a charming landscaped garden It attracts large numbers of visitors, covers an area of 6,500 square meters, consists of many types of exotic plants, and enjoys stunning views of Hyères Bay.
