San Francisco Street
San Francisco Avenue is one of the famous pedestrian streets in the city center of Alicante, and it dates back to about 20 years ago, when Alicante residents felt unsafe walking on this street, which was originally a rickety and neglected area with a dark appearance, and it was not until 2013 that The city council started making positive changes to the street by closing illegal businesses, converting the street into a pedestrian zone, and creating a variety of cultural and recreational facilities. It was decorated with brightly colored giant mushrooms and insects with smiling faces. The ground was painted yellow and green, and toys were painted Hopscotch along the way for the kids to play on. By the beginning of 2014, the street was completely transformed into a vibrant, attractive and modern pedestrian area that provides plenty of entertainment for visitors and includes a group of unique cafes and restaurants.
