Shell Cemetery

The shell tomb, also known as Sosan Hoi, is an ancient tomb in the shape of a fossilized shell located 17 kilometers from the center of Krabi Town along a 200-meter stretch along Ban Laem Pho. Modern scientific experts consider this shell tomb to be dated to 40- 25 million years old, although local folklore claims it is more than 75 million years old. This tomb emerged after limestone in the water deposited and petrified seashells, oysters, snails and a variety of other sea creatures that created slabs of intricate geological traces. This is a great place to visit if you are interested in geology or historical artifacts, and there are also mangrove forests worth exploring nearby and a Chinese temple in the cemetery open to the public.
