St. Mary's Church is a large Lutheran church built before 1298, and it is characterized by its Gothic architecture, and is considered the best example of the Gothic style prevailing in northern Germany, and between 1625 and 1647, the church was considered the tallest building in the world with a height of 151 meters. The bell tower of the church collapsed in 1382, and was rebuilt in 1478. This tower was struck by lightning in 1647, burned, and rebuilt in the form of a 104-meter-high baroque dome that is still preserved to this day.
