The American Cultural Centre - Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyah
Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiyyah is a Kuwaiti cultural institution founded on February 23, 1983. It includes a private Kuwaiti art collection, owned by Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and his wife, Sheikha Hussa Sabah Al-Salem, the general supervisor of Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiyyah. Dar Al-Athar is located in Kuwait City, specifically near the American Hospital, on the banks of Al-Khaleej Al-Arabi Street. Where the Dar Al-Athar takes the American Cultural Center as its temporary headquarters, at a time when the Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiyya building in the Kuwait National Museum is being rebuilt. The house was established with the purpose of displaying and managing the Al-Sabah Collection, which is a collection of Islamic art, which has been permanently loaned to the State of Kuwait, under the auspices of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters. The collection retains all the attributes of Islamic art, and includes 20,000 masterpieces belonging to a world stretching from China to Andalusia.
