The Corpus Clock
The Corpus Clock - also known as the Grasshopper Clock - is one of the strangest and most beautiful sights in Cambridge. It was built in 2008 and is located outside the Taylor Library at Corpus Christi College. It is an exceptional gold-plated time-measuring instrument invented by Dr. John C. Taylor), and what distinguishes it is that when the clock strikes, there is no bells ringing, but rather its chains vibrate and the hammer hits a wooden coffin, and this movement symbolizes that time passes and we will all die in the end.
