Description of the place
The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi), commonly abbreviated as TBMM or Parliament, is Turkey's unicameral legislature. This building was designed by architect Vedat Tek and built as the headquarters of the Republican People's Party in 1923. It is the only body endowed with legislative powers under the Turkish constitution. It was established in Ankara on April 23, 1920 in the midst of the national campaign.
