Viraganoor Dam

Virajannaur Dam, often known as Vigai Dam, is a relatively small stone dam located on the Vigai River, 10 km from Madurai city. The dam is commonly referred to as the Viraganur Dam because it is located in the village of Viraganur, and is under the maintenance of the Public Works Department of Tamil Nadu. The main objective of constructing the dam was to feed many remote rural areas with water, and the dam succeeded in that. Today, the dam is not only considered a national place for public service, but an outdoor garden has been established around it, where visitors come to spend a special time.
