Wat Suan Muk Valaram, also known as Suan Mukkh (Garden of Liberation), is a modern 150-acre forest temple built in 1959 by the late Ajahn Buddhadasa Bhikkhu, one of the most famous monks in Thailand. This temple is located in a quiet atmosphere suitable for contemplation of the philosophy of life, and attracts many Thais and foreigners because of its location in the bosom of nature and the contents of art, drawings and poems related to the teachings of Buddha. It also displays a diverse mix of Thai, Egyptian, Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Tibetan and European murals and sculptures.
