The Durham World Heritage Site Visitor Center is housed in a renovated 19th century guest house and is a free facility open seven days a week with staff and volunteers available to provide advice and information about Durham and its rich heritage. The Visitor Center provides visitors with an overview of the World Heritage site including information on what it means to be a World Heritage Site, what makes Durham important and what to do in this beautiful city. The site includes a small medieval herb garden, and interesting exhibits showcasing the development and growth of the city from the time of its foundation to the present day.
