Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art – The Museum of Contemporary and Modern Arts in Rijeka has got a whole new lease of life since moving to new premises in the Benčić Complex, a group of former industrial buildings near the railway station. The complex is now being transformed into a new collection of arts and culture, and the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Arts (MMSU) is the first major institution to move into, occupying former factory halls that retain their elegant iron columns and cool gray floors. The venue would ideally fit the museum’s busy exhibition program, which will include a selection of MMSU’s large permanent collections as well as solo and group shows by leading international artists. Whether you like the shows or not, it’s the perfect place to contemplate Rijeka’s ongoing transformation into a post-industrial city of art and entertainment.
