Church of Saint Demetrius of Thessaloniki – The Church of St. Demetrius is a medieval Bulgarian Orthodox church in the city of Veliko Tarnovo. Monastery St. Mary – Saint Mary’s Monastery is the smallest monastery in the village of Arbanasi. It is located in the northwestern part of the village, about 5 km from Veliko Tarnovo. It was established in the Middle Ages during the period of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom, and it was abandoned during the Ottoman rule due to many raids. And the destruction from the Kurds and the spread of bandits, and it was restored at the end of the seventeenth century when the new church was built, which is still preserved to this day, and later (at the beginning of the eighteenth century) residential buildings were added and the monastery resumed its work. The monastery consists of a small church with two halls and the large church of the Holy Trinity in the northern part. The churches contain very valuable wall paintings and icons, the most important of which is the icon of Saint Mary engraved with silver. Today, the monastery serves as a convent for nuns.
