The need for a suitable building was evident, so the current headquarters, located at 19 Zabana Street, was built in 1933, and was officially opened on November 11, 1935 in the building of the Palace of Fine Arts. The palace includes a museum, a library, and a school of fine arts. Upon independence, the museum remained entrusted to the Municipal People’s Assembly of the city of Oran until 1986, to move under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture, and change its name to become the name “The National Museum Ahmed Zabana” in honor of the well-known martyr Ahmed Zabana.
