Artuklu Palace – The Artuklu Palace or Artukid Palace (Turkish: Artuklu Saray) was the seat of the Diyarbakir branch of the Artukid dynasty, a Turkish Beylik that ruled eastern Anatolia and the Jazira in the 12th and 13th centuries. The palace was located in the present-day Icale neighborhood within the city walls of Diyarbakir. Built during the reign of Nasir al-Din Mahmud (1200-1222) and partially excavated in the 1960s, the main body of the palace is buried to this day under the hill.
