
Travnik is the city and administrative center of the Central Bosnian Region of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a dependent entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is located in the center of the country, 90 kilometers (56 miles) west of Sarajevo. As of 2013, the city has a population of 16,534, while the municipality has a population of 53,482. Historically, it was the capital of the Bosnian rulers from 1699 to 1850 and has a cultural heritage dating back to that period.
