Mostly rural in look and feel, the Alentejo region is home to a variety of landscapes. Hills, farms, fields and forests make up most of its charming countryside. It is also filled with wonderful historical monuments, Roman ruins, ancient aqueducts and rock ruins along with many museums and monuments. It has three 'Marble Cities', each with impressive facades made entirely of marble, but although this part of Portugal is full of history and beautiful castle towns, nature reserves and beautiful beaches are scattered throughout as well.
