The treasury of Aachen Cathedral is one of the most important treasuries in Europe, as it includes works of art related to Charlemagne, the German royal coronation, religious rites and antiquities. Some of the most important works include the Statue of Charlemagne, the Lothar Cross, and magnificent illuminated manuscripts. The Treasury is located next to Aachen Cathedral, with which it was added to the first UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List in 1978.
