The Holy Cross Monastery was founded in the thirteenth century by the Danish Queen Margaret Sambiria in 1270. According to legend, the queen founded the monastery in gratitude for her miraculous rescue when she drowned in the sea. It is the only completely preserved monastery in the city. It is a monastery complex that includes a church; Which is used today as the university church, in addition to a museum of cultural history and some other ancient buildings.
