Al-Arish Village is an abandoned fishing village located in the Qatari city of Al Shamal. Although its name means green oasis, which conjures up images of an idyllic spot sheltered by lush palm trees, this deserted village is far from a green oasis. Very few of the village's buildings have survived the test of time, and those that have borne the brunt of the unforgiving desert weather. There are rubble of coral and limestone rocks held together by mud mortar to create thick walls. Some of the buildings are still covered with roofs made of mangrove branches. closely knitted and stacked atop bamboo poles, all immersed in another layer of mud mortar. The minaret is the best-preserved relic, although badly cracked, it still stands tall among the ruins of the surrounding buildings, and the spiral staircase still exists, making a winding ascent to the summit possible although certainly not recommended, and the ruined remains of the mosque's walls are dotted. and ablution room.
