Ananuri Fortress Complex

Ananuri Castle Complex is a complex of castles located along the turquoise waters of the Aragvi River near the village of Ananuri in the Mtskheta-Mtianiti region at an altitude of 900 meters above sea level. It is a prime example of Georgia's unique blended architecture aesthetic and was home to the feudal Aragvi dynasty. During the eighteenth century, it was the starting point for many battles in which the Georgians won and lost, and today it houses a historic castle dating back to the feudal era (the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries), and it is considered one of the most beautiful churches in the whole of Georgia.
