The Archaeological Museum of Rhodes is located in the city of Rhodes in the huge edifice that used to house the Hospital of the Knights of St. John. Its construction began in 1440 and was completed in 1476. The museum contains various collections of antiquities from different parts of Rhodes and the neighboring islands, including the crouching statue of Aphrodite inspired by the work of a famous model made by the sculptor Doidalsas in the third century BC; It also contains jewelry, mosaic floors, and an outstanding collection of pottery.
