Description of the place
Arkadi Monastery is an Eastern Orthodox monastery, located on a fertile plateau 23 km southeast of Rethymnon in the Greek island of Crete, dating back to the 16th century, with Renaissance influence and Baroque architecture. This amazing monastery holds a large part of Cretan history, as it witnessed the Cretan revolution against the Ottoman Empire, and the building includes a museum, a church, and some storage areas.
