Founded in the 3rd century BC, this cult and burial site is located on Mount Nimrud where the Nimrud National Park was the summer residence of the Commagene rulers. In addition to the remains of steps and buildings on the summit plateau (with mosaics from the 2nd century BC), there are a number of inscriptions and rock-chambers on the way up. The first large relief inspired by Mithras shows Helios, while the middle relief shows King Comith Mithridates and his son Antiochus I. From here, there is a rock tunnel that leads to the burial chamber. Another picture shows Mithridates shaking hands with Hercules.
