The Ataturk Dam is located on the Euphrates River in southeastern Turkey's Anatolia region near Adiyaman Province. It is a rock-filled dam with a central core. It was completed in 1990 and took 7 years to build. It is now the focus of the Southeast Anatolia Project. It is considered the largest Ataturk Dam. Among the 22 dams and 19 hydroelectric power stations along the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, it ranks fifth in the world with an impressive length of 1,820 meters and a height of 184 metres, offering a magical landscape.
