In the heart of the vast Negev desert and atop a beautiful hill are the impressive remains of an ancient Nabataean city called the ancient city of Abdat. This stunning city was the most important city on the Incense Route after Petra between the 1st and 7th centuries BC. The town was named Abdat, after the Nabataean king, Abdat, who founded it. During their wanderings among the remains of this amazing town, visitors will find buildings, caves, and Nabataean inscriptions. Many archaeologists in the region also found spear heads made of flint, knives, and hand tools from the Stone, Bronze, and Iron Ages.
