The mausoleum of the city of Bangkok was erected during the reign of King Rama I (Rama I) when he established the city of Bangkok as the capital of Thailand in the year 1782 AD. Inside it there is a column of the city of Bangkok made of acacia wood, which was designed when the city of Bangkok was founded. According to ancient Thai tradition, a city pillar had to be built when establishing a new city. The shrine also houses images of deities, and is a tourist destination of great historical importance.
