Biscainhos Museum

The Biscaynehos Museum is housed in a beautiful residential mansion for a noble family that built it in the 17th century. This fine example of civil Baroque architecture shows what Baroque society was like in the past. In the house there is a gallery of 17th- and 18th-century art built mostly from private donations, including furniture. Baroque, ceramics, Chinese porcelain, European glass, silverware, and textiles, as well as Portuguese and European paintings. Stitched through the palace are gardens inspired by 18th-century French styles, some of the best preserved examples from the Baroque era.
