Brabo Grote Markt

The best place to learn about the origins of Antwerp's folklore would be at the foot of the Brabo Fountain in front of the City Hall. Looking up, the brave Roman soldier Silvius Brabo can be seen hurling the severed hand of Antigoon, a malevolent giant who, according to legend, terrorized the area. It says that by throwing the giant's hand into the river Scheldt, Prabo brought peace to the city.
