Brandenburg Gate
Brandenburg Gate
Built in the late 1800s, the Brandenburg Gate is the only surviving city gate of the old and majestic Berlin gates. The gate served as one of the wall crossings in old Berlin, became a place of protest during the division of Germany, was badly damaged in World War II, and underwent extensive renovation in the early 2000s. Today, it has been fully restored and is a symbol not only of the region's turbulent history, but also of the reunification of East and West Berlin.
