Carl August Memorial
The Carl August Monument was established in honor of the Prince of Weimar and its most famous duke, Carl August, in the area between the Weimar Palace and the Anna Amalia Library. The statue is also known as the Equestrian Monument, as August was a well-known knight in the city's history. To commemorate Auguste's assumption of the presidency of the Principality's government at the age of eighteen, it is a bronze statue of Auguste riding his horse.
