Castillo de Setenil de las Bodegas
Setenil de las Bodegas Castle was built during the Islamic conquest of Spain, and probably dates back to the Almohad period, i.e. to the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. This castle was the main defensive structure of the city, and a difficult obstacle to the invaders. The city was liberated from the Islamic occupation in the year 1484, after fierce battles that lasted for years and the destruction of the castle several times. There is nothing left of the castle at the present time except one of its huge towers and some walls. Visitors come to explore it and learn about its long history and the civilizations that passed through it.
