Cathedral Church of Athens
The Cathedral Church of Athens, which is also called the "Metropolitan Cathedral of the Annunciation", is located in the heart of the Greek city of Athens. Its construction began on Christmas Day of 1842, and it is greatly distinguished from other churches because marble from 72 demolished churches was used to build its enormous walls. It took about 20 years to build, and inside there are the tombs of two saints who were killed by the Ottoman Turks during the Ottoman period, namely: Saint Philothei and Patriarch Gregory V.
