From Piazza Matteotti, the busy Via San Lorenzo runs northwest from the port. You can't miss the dramatic Basilica of San Lorenzo, originally built as a Romanesque church in 1100 and remodeled in Gothic style in 1307 and finished with a Renaissance dome in 1557. Inside are many bits of architectural history. An ideal place for history lovers.
