Central Museum of the Textile Industry
unique museum in Łódź dedicated to the textile industry, it was established in 1946. It is the largest Polish center for the textile industry. The museum is housed in the White Factory Building, a large whitewashed four-storey neoclassical complex that constitutes one of the most attractive examples of industrial architecture in Poland and housed Łódź's first mechanical cotton spinning and weaving machine powered by the city's first steam engine. The museum houses treasures of threads, secrets and tales on pieces of cloth, and displays historical tools and equipment for the textile industry. Exhibits include large collections of yarn, weaving, knitted fabrics, and samples of industrial fabrics. There are also pieces of Polish art fabrics, women's clothing, men's clothing, European embroideries, and beautiful oriental carpets.
