Description of the place
The Château de Haut-Königsburg is a medieval castle located in the municipality of Auerschweiler in Alsace. It is located in a strategic area on a rocky outcrop overlooking the upper Rhine plain. It was used by successive powers from the Middle Ages until the Thirty Years' War when it was abandoned. Between 1900 and 1908 it was rebuilt by order of German Kaiser Wilhelm II.
