Chiang Mai Zoo

Chiang Mai Zoo is surprisingly interesting. It is a great attraction for all ages. Located at the base of the mountains, the zoo offers stunning landscapes and a variety of animals. Covering 200 acres of land in the foothills of Doi Suthep and offering excellent views of the city as well as its impressive wildlife exhibits, Chiang Mai Zoo is definitely worth a visit. Nearly 400 different species of animals are preserved, including elephants, tigers, chimpanzees, hippos, and rhinos. The zoo also has some special highlights such as a walk through aviary, an impressive freshwater aquarium and the zoo's stars - Chuang Zhuang and Lin Hui, two baby pandas who were sent as goodwill ambassadors from China in 2003. The focus here is on creating a natural feeling environment. They are out in the wild. Many of the facilities, such as the giraffe and zebra exhibit, have stairs and walkways that allow visitors to get up close and personal with the zoo's furry inhabitants.
