Church of St. Nicholas
The Serbian Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas stands on the north side of the cathedral square, near the bank of the Tisza River in the city of Szeged. It was built in 1778 by Serbs who arrived in Szeged in the Middle Ages, and who played an important role in the commercial life of the city and the region. Dedicated to St. Nicholas, it has a stunning Baroque style, and its interior is in keeping with the orthodox styles of Rococo iconography decorated with gold.
