Clock Tower
Built in 1602, the Clock Tower is in the center of Kotor and is the focal point of the city. Standing on three floors with two clock faces, it is one of the first things people see as they enter the city through the main sea gate. The tower combines elements of Baroque and Gothic architecture, and is made of gray stone. It features a coat of arms in the front of the building that belonged to a princely family from Montenegro, from the time it was built. On the ground floor, there is a watchmaker's shop that is said to have existed since the 17th century. In front of the tower, a small stone in the shape of a pyramid served as a pillar, to which local criminals were tied as punishment. There is also a beautiful square for resting, and it is preferable to visit it at night, when the tower and the square are illuminated, so the view is breathtaking.
