The huge statue of San Carlo Borromeo was erected in the seventeenth century AD, and it is one of the symbols of the city that enjoys great religious and touristic importance, as his right hand indicates his blessing of the city and in his left hand he holds the book of laws for the church, and he stands tall and alone with a height of 23.40 meters. Its huge granite base measures 11.70 meters, and thus it is considered the largest statue in the world. The head of the giant statue can be reached after climbing a set of metal stairs.
