Description of the place
Dubbed the 'Pearl of North German Brick Gothic', Doberan Church, 25 minutes from Rostock, is one of the outstanding examples of majestic 14th-century Gothic architecture, part of a former Cistercian monastery. The most important feature of this church is the main altar, which is considered the oldest of its kind in the history of art, the altar of the colossal cross and the carved tomb of the Danish Queen Margrethe of Samperia.
